Obviously the race cars were expected to generate healthy numbers...and they did with Larry Merifields‘
new LS1 powered VT saloon car causing Steve Crupi to keep turning the dyno display up… to up over
the 300kw mark. That LS1 is certainly healthy scoring just over 320rwkw. Now Larry wants more!
One thing the dyno day proved was that VN headed Holden V8s make more horsepower than early headed ones, with Pete Stewart the winner in that category just nudging out Wayne‘s Paola‘s VK Blue Meanie but some distance in front of Kim‘s VL. Jason Percy put his newly completed Nissan turbo powered Torana up, for a healthy 189rwkw out of the turbo‘d orange beast.
Back in the modified street class, Chris Loxton stunned everyone with a figure in the mid 250s! Awesome!
For street cars, your Editor got into the act to see what a bog standard VE Sportswagon V8 makes …a not
too shabby 223rwkw on standard ULP. Ray Cardwell strapped the 'Q ute down and after initial wheel spin issues (!) from the twin carbed Holden red motor up front, it was strapped down tighter for 89kw.
Thanks to Martin Carabott and our sponsor Aroma Catering for firing the BBQ up and feeding the assembled
throng and a big thanks of course to Steve and Evelyn Crupi for opening their doors on a Sunday and letting
us HSCCV members have a bit of fun…
